Section 02 — everything else

The bench

Fins, wax and the parts that wear out. Kept simple on purpose: one set of each, chosen because it is what we put on our own boards.

Section 03 — the workshop

Ten days in the bay

Every custom board runs the same route through the shop. If you order one today, this is what happens to it and roughly when.

  1. Day 1

    The blank

    A PU or EPS blank is picked for the volume you need and cut to length on the rack.

  2. Day 2

    Outline and rocker

    Template traced by hand, planed to the line, rocker checked against the bed.

  3. Day 3–4

    Foil and rails

    Thickness pulled through nose and tail, rails turned with a surform and screen.

  4. Day 5–9

    Glass and cure

    Laminated, hot coated and left alone. This is the part that cannot be hurried.

  5. Day 10

    Sand and finish

    Fin boxes routed, sanded to gloss or left matt, then it goes on the rack.
